Torn steering rack boot?

I installed my Bilstein 5100's yesterday and everything went pretty well. Today I was cleaning the truck and looked underneath to make sure everything was cool and noticed some fluid seeping from the steering rack boot. I must have nicked the boot during the strut install as I had to unbolt the tierods to make way for some of my impact tools. The question is, can i replace just the boot or do i have to buy the whole rack? i've never seen anything but the tie rod ends sold separately from the rack.

i found that on tascas' website after i made this post. luckily i can replace the boot, but why would i be leaking fluid? i didn't think that the tie rod boot held any fluid in there. could i have a bad seal in my rack?

Yes you probably have a bad seal. Those boots are there for protection from dirt, not to keep fluid in.

great. i think i saw something on tasca's website that was a seal kit for the rack. is it a diy fix if the seal is bad or do i need special tools to replace it?

Not sure about the repair, but you might want to check with the dealer. At one time there was a TSB about problems with some of the rack and pinion steering racks needing replaced.
