So I know this has been discussed before but but there seemed to be differing opinions. I have a 05 2wd with a leveling kit, and i can get a free set of FX4 struts from my buddy that just took them off. So would i be able to use them or would that be too much lift?

Yes, you can use them, but you can't combine them with your leveling kit for more lift.
Bottom line, if you swap a cheap oem shock with a leveling kit with a longer cheap oem shock you won't gain anything. You will just be wasting time.
