Drats! What to buy??
i'm with bjp and ballin. my dad had aluminized mufflers on a car and they looked like crap after 3-4 winters worth of salt but the stainless magnaflow on my truck looks great and its on it's 3rd winter.
it's not my cup of tea at all, but if your really going to follow through with this, make sure you do a quality job:
-stainless tubing
-clean holes in the bed
-iirc 1in clearance is recommended all the way around 3in pipe=5in hole but that may not be the same with gas...
-QUIET
-like stated, no higher than the cab
-i would have "turn" exit strait back, not to the sides
but, like i stated, this is not my cup of tea...

Other than that... thirdgenbird knows what I want!
if i were you, thankfully i'm not, i would make use of those huge bedsides you have and put one of those tips tycoz posted before each of your rear wheels, remove the rear block, put a roll pan on, and paint the front end like pat suggested. then, round two could be some nice wheels and tires, heck stock 20s would probably look great.
First off, suggestions and opinions run a fine line of being the SAME thing. Most of us here give our SUGGESTION without being blatantly rude, we embrace the idea of being unique & different very well. It is Manual's truck, he can do whatever he likes. I simply suggested another exhaust option because if he is OK with cutting holes in the bed, I thought he would be OK with cutting holes in the body. Like I said to begin with, Stacks look cool on big beefy diesels, like lifted F250-350's, Dodge Mega Cabs, etc. but I "personally" think on a F150 they will just look out of place, especially because they won't have the sound they are associated with. It's borders on trying to be something it's not. But hey, Manual....do whatever makes you happy buddy, most of the mature guys on here won't knock you for being unique, we may say it's not our "cup of tea" but it makes your truck...."YOURS"

from reading your post i can clearly see the difference between a suggestion and an opinion, in your post you "suggest" he uses a bedside mounted tip. in my "opinion" that would look sweet. then later on you say "Stacks look cool on big beefy diesels, like lifted F250-350's, Dodge Mega Cabs, " that is an opinion. i am trying to defend manuals ideas and originality, your clean/street look of your truck is not my cup of tea, but its a sweet truck and looks amazing, i live on a farm with a dirt/mud driveway half of the year and would utterly destroy the looks of a truck like that, so i am trying to go with a rugged offroad look, something i wont worry about keeping clean, i imagine that is not your cup of tea, i am not trying to argue with you i just dont like when people, not directed at you, say some thing is gay or stupid, in my opinion they are the immature ones knocking his ideas. as far as i can tell we are both pushing the same point, do what you want its your truck
I already got a street truck... why 2?
Even though my F150 is a 4x2... doesn't mean it can't be productive. I know every farm where I live has their share of 4x2 trucks along with 4x4 trucks. Where I live it ain't pretty 3/4's of the year. Plus I use this thing for my job, and for at home doing nothing but the dirty work. From overloading it with mulch, topsoil, hay, garbage, snow, and anything else you can imagine, it does a LOT of work.
Do I live on a farm? Yes, sort of... depends on if we feel like using our fields or not. Maybe in a few years I will spend the money and effort on getting some cattle or something to be a full fledged farm. However, the 20+ years we've been up here, I'd say we've done 10 years intermittently committed at farming and we've stated that on our taxes. From that we are considered a small farm, and the years we decide to produce, I can technically get AG plates for my truck if I so chose to. But since we do it almost every other year, it's not worth it.
This morning I was working outside doing some work out in the master garage, and I had a friend helping me clean the floors, and we were talking about the stacks. His father is big into hay and straw, whom in which I help every year with. He was telling me that stacks are a great idea because it won't start a fire out in the field and that is what most do down south to avoid crop fires. I mean it won't eliminate it completely, but it is better than the stock setup. But that's the least of my worries...
I just realized another good point for my stacks... they are less prone to getting damaged when working, as a friend I worked with destroyed his stock exhaust system working out in the field he backed right into log sitting on the ground and it bent it up. Now he's running an aftermarket the cheap hidden style... but he doesn't like it... but its been working for now.
Not to mention they will always stay shiny because there is hardly any road debris that is going to get near them... so no matter how dirty or gross my truck will be, it will still be clean. I can't say that much for my other truck's dual exhausts... I take a 5 mile drive and they are already gross and that's during the prime part of the year, when the sun is shining and it's nice out... and during the winter it wouldn't look that too good.
Granted my other reason too is merely because I don't want it to look like it's fast or anything either... kind of keeps the local fuzz off of me too... but I've never really had a problem yet... and I plan to keep it thataway.

I think it's just a useful idea... but don't get me wrong, it was either this or duals out the rear. I just wanted something rather different. Plus because of the nature of what I do with my beast, I think it would only fit within it's character.

Getting off topic, but yes...I guess my statement about what stacks would look good on is my OPINION....that's just me. I'm all for Manual doing something different...Hell no one liked the Boondock Bumpers on Tylus's red truck but me at first, so I'm not saying different is wrong, only suggesting other options that may be more subtle.
Like I said before, Manual I'm sure you are going to do a quality job on the exhaust and it MAY turn out looking really cool and unique....might even change some of our mind....so good luck.

I totally understand where you are coming from. The funny part is, I never intended to go the direction I went with my truck, I personally prefer the rugged off-road look. If you seen my previous truck in my gallery, I use to wheel that thing all the time...granted it cleaned up nice, but it was dirty 85% of the time. My truck now just started drifting more towards the street look when I realized I was wasting money in a 2 wheel drive trying to make it into a worthy off-roader, so I went the other direction.

I want to do a really super good job on it. I don't care how much it would cost to get it done and look right. Believe it or not, for what my truck is, I still get a ton of compliments on it's looks and functionality as it is.
I want to be unique... but I want it to come out like if Ford got a good set of body designers and came up with this idea out of their own think tank.
I wonder what would happen if Ford liked my idea? You never know... there are guys my age doing the logos and body styles on the computer. Why not try some stacks for looks. That'll be a head turner for Ford, especially if the F150 Diesel comes through.
I saw one of those trucks in person at a fair last year. Not a bad little truck at all. I wouldn't mind owning one.
A fella at my college has an old GMC I think a ~1938 pickup. His father is an engine builder and his older brother is into body repair. Can't beat that family! It's beautiful... I should've taken a picture of it... but I can snap one next time I hang out with him. It's an awesome truck.
Kind of reminds me of my Dakota.. I got one with the 5 speed, 4x2, with the 287 CID 4.7l V8... would love to do a 360 CID 5.9l V8... but I'm not to fond of the engine...

I'd like to have one too
