Well starting from the left the #1,2,3, and 6 axles lift when a switch is activated in the cab so it can turn when empty, and the #1, 3 and 6 axles lift when a switch is activated to turn when loaded.

Heck, I've got more than that in mine, and it works equal to 4x4...

I went through a parking lot with 1+ foot of snow with no problem!

Your 4x2 works equal to a 4x4, when you simply add weight? So, by that rationale, if I add 3/4 ton of sand in my 4x4 bed, will mine be equal to a 4x6? Sweet, I'm gonna go try it. Now nothing will stop me!

ETA: I pulled an AWD SUV out of the mud this evening, without spinning a tire. With some sand, maybe I can drag a tank around.

Not really... but close... why do you think F350s can pull so much without losing much traction? It's the initial weight that counts... once it gets rollin' it aint gonna stop! It's just gonna bite into the ground.

So you guys say if adding sand doesn't work... then why is it when my buddy's truck 4x4 truck got stuck in 1 foot of snow and didn't after adding a few of my sandbags work without the use of a shovel? And why has it been a daily practice of many people up here in the NE for the longest time for the winter months? It works...

Ya know, I am a member of many forums, and I always try to be courteous to people. But I have to say, you truly are IQ challenged. You don't even understand why people give you a hard time. I am still leaning towards the notion that you post these ridiculous notions for effect, because no one I know, can be that dense.

For the snow ball's chance you are being sincere, I don't think anyone is necessarily saying that adding weight to the bed of a pickup doesn't aid traction. It is your gross exageration of the benefits of doing this, and actually saying it is as good or better than 4wd, that causes most of us with a brain, to see that you are doltish.

That's why I threw the thing I found out not too long ago with the 4x4. Not saying 4x4 is bad... it's just that the weight of something, especially in snow has a lot to do with traction. It actually helps both 4x4s and 4x2s... that's all. If I didn't have those sandbags to get his Mazda pickup out of where he was, he would've been shoveling his way out even with 4x4. It was kind of coincidental that I had no problem fooling around in the same snow my buddy was stuck in his rat truck with 4x4. From my entire life, and everyone I've talked to around here, they all insist on sandbags in pickups.

I can tell you after he borrowed my sand bags, he swore up and down and kissed my feet for helping him the easy way.

you buddy was more careful after finding the limits of his truck, weight helps but experience is much more important ive been in 2 feet deep of snow with my lowered truck no extra weight and was perfectly fine 1 foot of snow is nothing. also as to why he got stuck and not you....id be willing to bet you have different size tires, different brand tires, different stock weight, and a different iq....i could go out in my truck in 2 feet of snow play around and not get stuck then hand the keys to my gf and she will be stuck instantly

Oh, you got that right... back when I was younger I got my 4x4 Escape with studded snows hung up pretty good. So it can happen to anyone who does some stupid thing. But there was nothing he could've done in his situation because they plowed him in and he needed to go home. Heck, he didn't even have a shovel!
