2007 5.4L 3V Plug Question

I wanted to change the plugs on my mother's 07 3V Expedition before any major problems arose (the Expy is at about 28,000 miles or so). I guess there are only 2 types of one piece plugs that I have heard of so far...Brisk and Champion? I would lean towards using the Brisk plugs. Any input, thoughts, opinions would be much appreciated.

Also, I posted this here in the F150 section because there is much more knowledge and activity in this section than the Expy one, IMO.

Thanks guys!

I think you're safest bet is the motorcraft plugs. I know it sucks to put them back in after all the trouble, but the electrode is different on the others. I've read a few posts about the champions being broken before installing...

After reinstalling the Motorcraft plugs, what would be a good interval to pull and reapply anti-seize? 10,000 miles? 15,000?

One more thing I was wondering. Should I run a complete fuel system cleaner through a tank of good gas too before I attempt the removal?

dont touch them untill you need too. thats my advice...just because there is low miles on them now doesnt mean they wont still break. then your screwing around trying to get broken plugs out of a vehicle that was running fine in the first place.

I just finished pulling them out of my pops 05 5.4 for the second time. One year later and 10,000mi they came out real easy. I just used the regular antiseize on the plugs and just a small dab on the plugs threads the first time. When i pulled them the first time he had 30000 on the truck and dam they were sqealing. This time no sound at all. The shaft had alot of rust as the first time but very minimal carbon on them. So just cleaned them again and installed. (They are still the motorcraft Pz2 plugs)

Is there still an issue with the plugs on the 07's? I though it was only in the older models?

They supposedly put anti-sieze on the 07s but who really knows? They redesigned the head after the 08s came out.

I too would stay away from the Brisk and the Champion. Too many have had issues with them. There was a thread were pics were posted of an electrode breacking off and taking out a valve. I had my plugs changed at 65,000 with no problems, and went back with Motorcraft. I run gas with a good detergent, Shell, Texaco, Conoco and Chevron. The old plugs looked like new and would have had no problem going to 100,000.

They claim that the 06 had antsieze put on them, but when i pulled them mine had none. It had the newer plug Pz1, but no antiseize.

Hmm, thanks guys! I think I will have her use a good gas like Chevron for a couple of tanks (she usually fills up at Safeway I think) with a fuel system cleaner for extra cleaning, then I will attempt it and see what happens. I'd rather pull them now when there is a better chance of them not being as bad as they will probably get. I suppose I will find out too if they actually put anti-seize on them.
