New to Ford, With a mileage question......

Hey all, Moving to Ford from GMC. Picked up a 05 F150 XLT Platinum. 5.4l, 3.55's, 4x4 crew 20's. Picked it up with an empty tank. Filled it up, Drove 60 miles and put 5.8 gal of gas in. Being not used to the truck yet, I've been keeping accelerating to under 2.5k. I have floored it once from a stop ot 60mph. Is 10.5ish MPG average for a truck equiped as this? From what I've been searching on this site, I'd say no. Any ideas? Has 53k on the truck. Thanks

check the air filter, and other routine maintenance, maybe plugs, but on a 5.4, good luck..

10 is not normal... my dad's f-250 super duty gets that towing a trailer...

if you are towing, live in the mountains, city driving, or just romping on it alot i could see 10...

but i did WOT 3 times, and was really romping on it a lot the first 2 days, and still got 15 over the 5 days i drove it... 300 miles with about 75 of which were using A LOT of gas...

same gears, engine and XLT... your crew cab and 20's are going to hurt you compared to me though... you should see around 15 though...

try it again and see what you get..

same specs here except the 20's, i've got 17's with 275/70/17 tires (32.2") which are the same overall size as factory 20's and i average 15-16mpg with very "spirited" driving.

I have 5.4L, air raid Jr. intake, flowmaster 40 series, 35" tires and my Edge evo programmer says 12.5 mpg and I dont take it easy and its all city. I thought it was kinda low and I havent put in my tire size into the programmer so I think its off a bit.
