New Truck

Well some of you know I got rid of my 05 Lariat for an 08 Fusion this last February. The dealership called me last weekend and said they had a check for me (refund for service done elsewhere) and I could stop by and pick it up. I have really been missing having a truck, so I stopped in to pick up the check and look at the new 09's. They are some sweet trucks, as I was leaving I just asked the sales manager, "what are you giving the 08 left overs away for?" He laughed and said not much at all. So I handed him my keys to my fusion and asked for an appraisal. Long story short, I walked out with this.

2008 F150 XLT 5.4, 3.73LS, 4x4.... Its pretty plain, but its much better than the Fusion. Sorry about crappy cell pics, but as you can tell, it was dark out and I didn't have my good camera.

Not nearly enough... I honestly don't know what the final number was... we went back and forth fudging numbers. Bottom line was all I was concerned with. I had to get at least 14k to make it work.... It was probably around there.

I am a poor broke college kid ... but I work and get a check from the VA so its not too bad.
They are just too cheap right now. I got into it for just a bit more a month than my fusion was, and still much cheaper than my 05 was.

Welcome back. It has to be tough to go from a Lariat to that. I'm not saying that its ugly or bad but we all know that the Lariat is bad-asz.

I almost got rid of my 05 yesterday for a GMC. They were going to give me 12500 for my truck but it started to misfire last night and today. So the trade is going out the window. They wanted to check out my truck again today before signing the papers and I'm sure they would notice the misfire and I think I would also feel guilty trading a truck with a known problem and not disclosing it if they didn't notice the problem. The GMC is no F150 but it did drive great and I think I might have liked it more than the F150 But I guess the f150 is mine until the wheels fall off. I don't see getting offered that much on trade again and the deals going on right now on new ones are not going to last much longer.

I know I need new rims.... but being a broke college kid, that may take some time. I may go the paint/powdercoat the stock rims route in the mean time. More importantly to me is getting new tires on it. The stockers suck.

The lariat was cool, but I got sick of the fake wood grain. I doubt I'll ever own another lariat again. Some of the other options will be missed, but nothing I can't live without for now.

I saved my edge for some reason when I sold my 05, so that will be going in. I'll be tinting the windows, not much else for a while though. Not that I don't want to though.

Why would you get rid of a F-150 Lariat in the 1st place???

1. at 50k miles or so it was having the injector issues. Covered, but made me think what was next. Didn't have money for repairs. I wanted something with a warranty.

2. I hated the fake wood trim. Thought it was cool at first, but it got old quick.

3. I thought I wanted a car, since I had a baby on the way. Turns out, I'd rather deal with the reduced space and keep a truck.

4. Got a good deal on the Fusion, and traded the 05 right before resale values really tanked.
