Overhead rail system, can it be added?

I have a 2006 XLT s-crew. I was wondering if anyone knows if the overhead rail system can be added? Would the headliner have to be changed or does the rail kit cover the existing holes? I tried to do a search but I can't find if anyone has tried this before.

Sounds interesting. I cannot help you but IMO the rail is somewhat useless. I have one but add-ons are not cheap and I forget to use it. Good luck though.

I added an aftermarket overhead monitor to my rail system so take a look at my thread. You will see some pics and maybe they will help you out.

If you see in the 3rd pic, those black wing looking tabs hold the rail system and headliner up. I'm not sure if it will work but I i'm going to guess and say yes. If you can the black wing looking tabs, cut the holes in the liner you should be able to do it. The rails are held up by the black wing tabs and the rear and front top lights with two screws on each light. I hope I'm making sense.

I think it can be done but it won't be easy.
