Lightbulb Strobe Placement

About to install 8 strobes, 1 in each headlight, fog-light, tail-light, and reverse light.

Would like to see some pics of where you all drilled your holes. I have no idea if the strobe is even going to fit inside the fog light on my 2006 LOL.

Any ideas people?

Thanks,
Chris

Not sure why those are where they are, but the closer to the reflector the better.

Headlight placement shouldn't be a problem, I'm more concerned with the placement for the fog-lights and the tail-lights.

In my reverse lights I have them on the flat side of the reverse light by the tailgate. There is a perfect spot to place them and they clear the wall, reverse bulb, and just good location. I used RTV sealent to make sure no water would leak in. Make sure you place the box inside your truck so it stays nice and dry. I dont want my powersupply to get wet. I mounted mine in my center console basically where the air flows to the back of the truck. It keeps it cool because of the constant air flow. In the front I have projectors so my placement wouldnt help you any.The best placement would be in the original reflector, because it would reflect the light.

I tried to join the VFD but my mom felt that I needed to focus more on schooling. However, my strobes have came in use. I have seen two accidents happen in the past 2 weeks. One car hydroplaned off the highway and landed in the ditch. The other a car rearended another on bus. 6. The cops were called but it took them 25 min to show up. In that time I parked in the middle of the lane with lights on because the cars were in the middle of the road and traffic was exiting the highway. Then i had the people in the accident help me move the cars out of the road, after telling them to wait so I could put it in neutral. Picked up the major debris and made sure everyone was okay, all before the first sherriff deputy arrived. Tisk Tisk...

Displaying high intensity, flashing, emergency lighting on the roadway, by non-emergency persons, and interfering with a traffic crash investigation are legal in Texas? Was the deputy impressed?

He actually thanked me for stopping and complimented me on my truck. What is more dangerous; me stopping and removing a car off the middle of the highway preventing another accident while the cops are 20min out or letting cars traveling off a dark highway hit a wrecked car sitting in the middle of the road. And yes strobe lights are perfectly legal as long as your not moving. I have not ever turned them on while moving. Thursday will be the first day they have been on while in gear when I am in the christmas parade on thursday.

Just curious. You took a lot of liability upon yourself, which most folks won't do. Hopefully you saved another crash.

Great we have a Ricky Rescue running around Texas.

You didn't need strobes to get any of that done.

Leave first response to the professionals.

Next thing you'll have a scanner and be jumping calls.

Congrats on helping.

Ricky Rescue?

I know if I was in a wreck I would appreciate someone stopping especially if it took 25 minutes for anyone to show up. And in a lot of states it is the law to move vehicles of the road if possible in an accident.

Which states? You need strobes in this situation? I wouldn't be telling anyone to do anything, or moving anything, unless I was backed (financially against litigation) by a municipality, and was certified as a first responder. That's just me. I have seen a LOT of crashes, and I know what can happen.

If your immediate intervention is required to prevent certain death, then by all means, act. But know, that a lot of insurance companies and victims, look to 'good samaritans' to place fault and blame.

True words.

And to the poster who said his mom wouldnt let him join, it sounds like you are not old enough anyway. Maybe to join as an explorer, but in no way do explorers need lights in thier trucks.

Shes's right, stay in school.
