Are tires under warranty?

One of my tires just went flat the other day. i baught my truck new in sept. of 07 and the tires only has 13K on them. The hole seems to be in the side part of the tread, very small i cant even see it, i can feel the air when i put my finger over that area. Just wondering if tires are covered under the bumper to bumper warrany.

Parts that are designed to wear out are usually outside of warranty coverage.

That'd be like asking if gas was under warranty.

Yes they are, check your manual (warranty guide), they are not covered under the full bumper to bumper warranty, but just like brakes and alignment (one year 20,000 km (12k mile)) they do have some kind of warranty.

The tire manufacturer also provides you with a separate tire warranty that may extend beyond the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage. You will find the manufacturer’s tire warranty with the owner literature supplied with your vehicle. You have the option of having a tire warranty repair performed by the tire manufacturer’s authorized service center. If you go to a tire service center for a repair covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you may be charged a prorated amount for wear or other charges. If so, you should present your paid invoice detailing the nature of the charges to any Ford Motor Company dealership for refund consideration. When making warranty repairs on your vehicle, the dealer will use Ford or Motorcraft parts or remanufactured or other parts that are authorized by Ford. In certain instances, Ford may authorize repairs at other than Ford dealer facilities. Tire replacements under warranty will be made with the same brand and model as originally equipped with the vehicle unless the same brand and model is no longer available, in which case a tire of the same brand, size, load, speed and tread type will be used. In some circumstances, Ford may authorize another brand and/or model to substitute for the original brand and model, even if still available.

Normal tire wear or damage is not reimbursable. See page 15 for details of what is not covered.

No it isn't, you get a warranty on tires when you buy them new, so why the heck wouldn't they have a warranty when you buy them on a new truck? Bad comparison.

But to specifically answer his question about a hole in the tire, it is NOT covered. From the same link is below. The warranty covers material defects, not road hazards.

Tire Wear or Damage
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover normal wear or worn out tires. Tires will not be replaced (unless required by a warranty repair) for wear or damage including:

tire damage from road hazard such as cuts, snags, bruises, bulges, puncture, and impact breaks
tire damage due to under or over inflation, tire chain use, racing, spinning (as when stuck in snow or mud), improper mounting or dismounting, or tire repair

Bring the truck to a nearby tire dealership and have them plug or patch it for you. It will only cost about $15.00 at the most. I tires on the truck are not under warranty so you have to fix it yourself. It is a cheap fix. If you are not able to put a patch because it is too far down the sidewall, can't help you. Buy a new tire.

Discount Tire will do it free the first time. I just had them remove a roofing nail from one of my tires, and they patched it the proper way (from the inside), as well as balanced it after the work was done. I buy all my tires from them, only exception is the set I have on my truck currently. But if you usually buy with them they'll do simple stuff like that for free.

well the thing is its such a tiny hole and its on the side of the tread right before the side wall so i dont think if its from a screw or nail, i guess all i can do is call or go up there and check.

How the heck would a flat tire be a warranty issue? FS

He asked if tires had warranty, and they do. A flat due to a nail or screw, no, it isn't, but if the tread is separating then yes, out of round, yes.
