Help painting calipers/hub

I want to also paint the hub besides just the caliper because with my rims you can see them pretty good. For those that have done this can you give me steps/pointers from the prepping to the painting(what items to use etc.)? Also, for those that have done this how is the paint holding up?

Im not going to attempt this till spring but Im just trying to gather some info now.

Thanks for any info!

I used the Duplicolor caliper paint both the brush on and spray on for the hubs. I just taped everything I didn't want paint on and sprayed away. It has held up very well. I did it for the same reason as you what to. After putting on my new wheels it was driving me crazy seeing all that rust detracting from the wheels. Go for it!

Make sure you use some sand paper and rough up the parts you are painting. This ensures the paint adheres correctly.

Thanks for the reply. Have you thought about doing the rusty tops of the rotor? Thats another area Ive thought about doing. Also, what did you use to prep before painting?

You know you can buy rotors that already have all the non-touch surfaces black. Centric does a pretty sweet job of this. If you go to their website, you can take a look. Everybody carries them, Rock Auto, etc. Got them for my car which has prepainted Brembo brake calipers, very nice...

I'm kinda OCD but not that bad... When these rotors wear out I'll just get the ones like JERU says. Other than that I just knocked the surface rust off with sand paper then cleaned it with the cleaner in the caliper kit. Pretty much smelt, worked like brake cleaner. If you use the blue painters tape it works well and doesn't leave a mess.

Yes I know this but why pay $500-$1000 when you can pay $50? Or are these cheaper? Do you have a link?

Get some G2 caliper paint. They come in a ton of colors. I did mine and the quality of the paint is great! Kinda hard to see, but you get the idea!

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...rttype,1000006

Rock Auto has like a million rotors for the F150. The link above has the front rotors for the 4x4 F150. You can back out of it and go after your year/engine/etc to get the correct rotors. Centric offers the 7 and 6 lug rotors. Prices are pretty decent.
