Wow.. been awhile... q's on an 06 FX4

So it's been quite some time since I posted here since I gave up my 04 FX4 just about a year and a half ago..

got me a honda accord instead... that quite frankly I HATE!

Anyway.. apparently supercab FX4's are impossible to find.. at least here in the DFW area... Supercrew's are all the rage apparently..

So I found an 06 FX4 supercab with 34,000 miles for 18,900. I'm sure the price is negotiable, it's on a used car lot. Question, should I be concerned with the lack of warranty? I mean it's not certified and all that BS... or have I just been conditioned to "want/need" a warranty.

My 04 held up very well with almost no issues however, I have no idea who put the first 34k miles on it.

Anyway any advice or input you guys could offer would help..

thanks...

Have them bring it in the shop put it on a lift and let you get a good look around!

Check the T-case seal...
I had mine replced under warranty at about 29,000 miles.

I'd say one if they let you take a good look at it and they are willing to fix any REAL issues you may find... BUY IT....

Other then that I've had NO real issues...

That's not a bad price for an Fx4 SCAB!!

Around here wit that kind of miles... They are pulling about 21 - 24

Have any Pics of your old Flareside??

I've got one and like to see what people have done with them.

VERY NICE....

Yea... Hondas make nice drivers. But that's about it...

Although I wouldn't mind an S2K to whip around in...

GOOD LUCK with that Truck...

Who made the light bar you had on your old truck?

LOL.. funny you should ask... I actually made it myself.. made quite a few of them actually and sold them to a few other guys on here.. I drew it up myself on the driveway and fabbed it up...

I didn't want something that would totall take over the front end. I think I would have made and sold more if the bumper hadn't changed from 04 to 05 with a smaller opening. However, should I get this 06 you can bet I'll dig out the few remaining bars I have left in my garage and try and re-engineer one to fit, I don't think it'll be that difficult

I really like it!

Well if you do and you make one...

I'd be interested in one as well.

PM me if it happens!

Those rims are off of an Expedition.. I had them powdercoated black and left the center caps off... the powder held up VERY well and was VERY shiny.. my own version of a set of cheap rims that looked danged good... only cost me like 400 bucks total.. I bought the rims off EBAY and had them powdercoated locally..

One of a kind too.. that's always nice

Funny, I traded my S2K for my F-150. Had it for 6 months was in the shop twice. Once for the radio and once for the tranny. It was an amazing machine though. Then I found out my wife had our first one in the oven. I miss my car but dont regret my decision. She's beautiful, (my daughter)

You would think you could get something new or an '08 for that kind of cash. I mean every day its rebate this, employee pricing that. Ford has got to be giving away the '08s with the economy sinking and the 09s rolling in.

Good luck on the new truck if you decide to go with it. If i were you id check a dealer first to see if they can offer you a better deal. I ended up getting 12k off my truck brand new.

depending on the build date, that truck probably has a 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

it'll have the 3yr/36k complete warranty until sometime in 2009 right...and the powertrain only after that.

check the door jamb. trucks built in/after June 2006 are the ones that have the extra warranty.

honestly though, at 18,000 miles...that truck is good to go IMO. I've got 23,800 on my 2006 without anything major. just 1 window switch

SWEET!!!

So I picked one up yesterday... not the FX4.. I did a carfax and it had spent quite a bit of time as a fleet vehicle..

I found a blue 06 with 20k miles on it.. SCAB 4x4 for 17,799... I figured that was a pretty good deal... It was built in April 06 so I assume that means it does NOT have the extra warranty? That kinda blows.. Oh well

so FINALLY.. back in the fold.. All I've done is stare at it and the list begins to grow!

Level kit...
Flowmaster...
Wheels...
Tires...

freaking addict...

Mr. Extreme... It looks as if the light bar will fit although I'll have to do some very minor grinding on the corners of the back plate.. When I get it put in and painted I'll post some pics up...
