Guys with 285/70/17s

I am looking to buy some BFG all terrains and wanted to know what kind of drop in mileage you guys saw? I see these tires are about 20 lbs heavier then the stock 255/70/17s that are on there now so I’m sure there will be a little loss in power and faster break wear as well, just wondering how much.

I didn't notice any major drops in power with my 285's. My mileage has stayed around 18mpg on the highway.

I had the POS Hankooks on mine before I replaced them with the 285/70/17BFGs. I was so tired of the tire squeal from those old tires at normal turns that I was not concerned with loss on MPG. Did notice a little difference in turning but I had a drastic change..I think those Hankooks were 235/70/17.

i had the same hankook tires i hated them they would squeal every turn and also from the get go. i changed mine out for the bfg mt 285/70/17 and of course i feel it more heavy but mpg did drop about 1 or 2 but since then i added a airintake and it helped a little but changing my fuel filter did wonder and i get about 16-17 mpg now from 12-13.

I was thinking about this same size for my truck as well....mine is a leveled 2wd though. I have the same factory wheels on mine(alloy 17's with the charcol gray inserts). How close do your tires come to rubbing? I worried about clearance especially with the spindle, my buddy has 275/70r17 with the factory chrome steel wheels and you can barely fit your finger in between the tire and the spindle? Maybe the steel wheels are differnt though?
