2004 Not Idling

Hello all. i just joined this site because my 2004 5.4 is having problems and i don't have the money to have a dealer fix them.

The worst is-it will not idle right. The check engine light is on and it does it much worse once it is warmed up. I have heard to check the IAC, but then found out that 04's and up do not have them. Is this correct?
I was also told that it needs new air intake manifold gaskets. I friend of mine sprayed carb cleaner around the intake and the idle picked up when he did that. sounds like the cause, but wanted to make sure it wasn't just a fluke.

I just had the infamous window falling down happen on friday. had a dealer fix it yesterday...$4oo. i almost had a stroke.

the last thing is- the cruise only will work when the truck is stone cold. i take it a mile or two down the road and it will stop working until the next morning, after it has sit all night. i tried the recall route at 3 dealers, but my vin does not have one. i'm wondering if maybe it has something to do with this idling problem, since they both happen after the truck is warmed up.

i would appreciate any help from anyone. i love my truck. its got 105,000 on it and runs like a dream going down the road...just not when it is sitting...haha

1. clean your MAF
2. clean your Throttle Body
3. go to Parts America/Shucks/Napa/Autozone and get the Check Engine light code read
4. it's very easy to replace the Upper Intake Gasket. just takes some guts and a few hours.

I suggest you do option 1-3 first. It won't hurt to clean the MAF and TB...and their freebies.

Getting codes pulled should be free as well.

thanks for the info!
i forgot to add that i already changed the MAF. a buddy at work told me the exact same thing about changing the gaskets. i do minor work (brakes, oil, change elec. parts) but have never really done something that involved by myself.
i did have the codes ran at advance auto. i lost the paper with the numbers, but they were saying system too lean in banks 1 and 2.

in that case, it almost sounds like O2 sensors.
