Blower Resistor Pic. anybody?
Blower Resistor Pic. anybody?
My blower only works on setting 4. Does the blower reisistor look like a black wafer card? I hauled this devise out of the blower box from under the passenger dash, but there is resistance on all 4 pins, I expected it to be an open circuit or the reisitor block would be visably damaged.
The truck is an 04 new style (not heritage) and if this is the resistor pack, it doesn't look like the old coil looking rigs from the past. Just wondering if i got the right device hauled out or not. thanks

Yes, it sounds like you took out the correct part. I had the same problem last year. The blower only worked on certain settings. It was the blower resistor. It's located on the passenger side back behind the glove box area and it looks like a circuit board (wafer card) covered in a black coating. If i remember correctly it was pretty cheap also. Less than $10 I think.
This is not the exact picture of the F150 blower resistor, but it should look smiilar to the one in the link below.

That the exact one! but when i check resistances there are fairly normal readings, like 125k, 55k, 25k and 0 ohms. The board looks perfect, but I will buy a new one for the price and slap that in and see. But it is a sign that there is an underlying problem with the motor, for the resistors to go.
slapped in the new Blower resister card, now everything works great, even the ABS light went away, im sure its just a coincidence as it has been comming and going, but here's to hoping!
I feel so foolish as I was actually going to put the truck into the dealer to get looked at for this fan problem. Truck is out of warranty and would have cost at least 80-100$ for the labour and part.
As a side note, I called a local aftermarket parts place, the blower resisiter was 40 dollars there, it was 17 at ford. Unless they looked up the wrong part, I dunno, but thats as far as i went with that.
