Window regulator
Window regulator
Hey gang, its been awhile.
2004 F-150 supercab, DSG, 5.4, 25,000miles
Walked out side a few minutes ago and saw my driver side window down, I thought my wife left it down, then I thought someone burglarized my truck.
none of the above, apparently the cables in the window regulator broke allowing the window to fall to the bottom of the door.
I got the door panel off, pushed the window back into position, duck taped it in place. now searching for the parts
anyone change a window regulator? difficulty level? tips?
ETA: Flame suit on, I know I should have searched first

EXTREMELY EASY! I did a little explanation of it in another thread. unbolt the old regulator and install a new one. Just connect the new regulator and wind it up, then clamp the window in. Remove duct tape and you are good to go
My father did his and it was very easy.
Tip is to order from tascafordparts or some other online discount place for the part. The dealership is proud of the regulators. My dad had to have his right then and there and it cost him about $130 plus tax. Thats before the retail market really felt fuel surcharge, so I dont know how much now.

just called the dealership, they want $209 for the regulator w/motor. asked about the regulator with out the motor, idiot on the phone said "ford don't service it like that"
I pulled the regulator out of the door and low and behold one of the plastic pieces that holds the cable cracked. $209 for one little piece of plastic that failed.
I would get the part from fastpartsnetwork or some other online vendor but I'm going out of town and need this fixed three days ago.
rant off

Yea it sucks it is only sold as one complete assembly. Same thing happened with mine where the little plastic piece broke. Call a couple Ford dealerships and see if you can get a lower price. The install takes 10min
