Update on wreak

So my truck was offically totalled and insurance called me today. So get this, they are offereing me $9,723.69 for my truck...I told them to refigure it and see what they can do becuase I still owe $9,425.98 on it and that will only leave me with a little under $300 for a downpayment on a new one
...which sucks and I dont know what to do??? Anybody been through this before. I want to get the most I can.
04 XLT with ??? miles?
sorry man, but I think $10k is about all you can expect for your truck. gas prices have hit the truck/suv market really hard
but, if you wait until the 09's hit the lots, the price of leftover 08's will drop like a rock. and they're already deeply discounted.

I'm guessing no GAP insurance right? Did you hit someone or the other way around? That sucks that they only give you enough money to pay off the truck and then leave you out in the cold.
That sucks. Sorry to hear that. If they don't give you anymore, do you think they will let you take parts off of the truck? You could sell some parts for some extra cash. That H style grille looks in good shape, I just saw a thread about someone wanting one.
Yeah its an 04 with 69k miles...I know the miles are hurting me. And yes someone hit me. Every body panel on that truck is damaged from the wreak so the grill is about the only thing worth taking off the outside...but I still had the receipt for all 4 tires which were less than a year old and they gave me more for that but not near the 687 I paid for them.

I don't think GAP insurance applies to his situation anyways, considering the insurance company is already giving him more than he owes. GAP is for when the insurance company gives you less than you owe, then the GAP insurance covers the rest.
Anyways, you don't always need a down payment. It helps tremendously of course, but you can still get into a new truck without one. As long as your credit is ok, and you can afford the payments.
Good luck though man, i hope you get it all worked out and get to start driving a new truck soon.

I was an adjuster for 30+ years. If you think your truck is worth more money, you have to have documentation to prove it. You also want them to show you the documentation of how they came up with their price. The documentation is what is important regarding the value and you have the option of going to appraisal or sue if it is your insurance company and the option of filing suit if it was the other party's insurance company.
I looked on Kelley Blue Book and that does seem a little low but then again I don't know that they take into account market conditions when they quote values. So that may be about all it is worth these days.
Yeah its just so frustrating having no truck...I would love a new 08 but im looking for payment equal to my last or a little higher. I got a really good deal on mine $266 a month
