Question New to me 07 Lariat Supercrew Questions

What a great site!

Just bought an 07 Lariat Supercrew and was wondering how to find out which rear-end is under it? Also are all the 5.4's Flex and if not how do I find out that info as well? Sorry for the ignorant questions but this is my first truck and these are questions that I forgot to ask the dealer.

Thanks

There is a tag or label on the driver's door. It lists the axel code. Compare it to this list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following lists the gear ratios on rear axles.
19 — 3.55 non-limited slip (Econoline, F-150)
18 — 3.08 non-limited slip (F-150)
17 — 3.31 non-limited slip (Econoline)
H9 — 3.55 limited slip (F-150, F-250)
B6 — 3.73 limited slip (F-150, F-250)
24 — 3.73 (Econoline)
32 — 4.10 (Econoline)
35 — 4.09 (Econoline)
34 — 3.73 (Econoline)
39 — 3.55 (Econoline)
52 — 4.10 (Econoline)
56 — 4.10 (Econoline)
81 — 4.63 (Econoline)
27 — 3.31 non-limited slip (F-250)
26 — 3.73 non-limited slip (F-250)
41 — 3.27 non-limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
45 — 3.55 non-limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
46 — 3.73 non-limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
42 — 4.10 non-limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
D1 — 3.27 limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
D4 — 3.73 limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
D2 — 4.10 limited slip (Explorer/Mountaineer)
84 — 3.45 non-limited slip (Ranger)
86 — 3.73 non-limited slip (Ranger)
87 — 4.10 non-limited slip (Ranger)
89 — 4.56 non-limited slip (Ranger)
F6 — 3.73 limited slip (Ranger)
F7 — 4.10 limited slip (Ranger)
92 — 3.08 non-limited slip (Ranger)
R5 — 3.55 limited slip (Ranger)
91 — 3.27 non-limited slip (Ranger)
96 — 3.73 non-limited slip (Ranger)
R6 — 3.73 limited slip (Ranger)"

If you have a Flex Fuel, I thought there was a badge on the tailgate. I bet there is also something on the gas cap or flap.

Check your gas cap, if it's not a flexfuel it will have NO E-85 symbol on it, unless someone changed out the cap.

You can also check your vin # on 07 150's the standard 5.4 had a "5" as the eighth digit, flexfuel models have a "V" in that spot.

Well it looks like it's a flexfuel. The 8th digit in my VIN is a "V" and there is a decal on the fuel door that reads "Ethenol fuel or Unleaded gas only".

Thanks

Nice truck and by the way the axle you have is much better imo than the 3.55. Better pull out of the hole better at mataining a gear on the hwy and the mpg is the same as when I had my 3.55.

Sharp truck my brutha

Well I will jump in this thread to ask a question. According to my door sticker it shows axel code "H9" which shows as the 3.55 limited slip.

I was messing with my gryphon and looking at the gear ratio and it says 3.73. The literature says it takes it from the PCM. so my question is, is the sticker wrong or is the gryphon wrong?

Hmm, interesting point. I would say either the gryphon is wrong or your axle has been modified. Lets go to the next step. Crawl under you truck and read the numbers off of the tags on your axles. If you have limited slip there will be two tags. I think we need the numbers off of the left side, but get both to be sure. post them and some one here will translate.

Ok there are two tags, a paper tag and a metal bolt on tag.

The paper tag says V911G

The bolt on tag is a bit harder. it appears the bolt might actually cover up the first character but to the best of my ability it says.

L55 9 757D30

Thanks for the help guys.

P.S. There is also a tag that says 5W40 Synth Oil only but that one I understand..

Nice find, that may be the perfect truck right there.

That reads 3.55 limited slip 9.75 inch as I recall. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can do a search on L55 and find this thread: axle tag

Another way to check is rpm. At 790/72 on a 3.73 you should be at 2K rpm. One a 3.55 it will be a lower rpm - but I forget what exactly - maybe 1800?

19 — 3.55 non-limited slip — F-150
25 — 4.10 non-limited slip — F-150
26 — 3.73 non-limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
27 — 3.31 non-limited slip — F-150
B5 — 4.10 limited slip — F-150
B6 — 3.73 limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
H9 — 3.55 limited slip — F-150
18 = 3.08 non-limited slip — F-150
