Leaf still squeaking after replacement
Leaf still squeaking after replacement
It's been a while since I have been on here since I graduated but I need advice desperately. I had that horrible squeaking noise when my rear axle flexed. Took it to a dealer where I was going to school and the replaced the leafs. A couple weeks later the truck is making the noise again. I took it to a dealer here at home and the refused to replace them again. They are telling me that I need traction bars because I have "axle wrap" and it is throwing the pinion angle off skewing the leafs and causing them to squeak. I realize you have to pay to play but I don't want to go spend $600 and still have the same problem. Any ideas what to say or do?
The squeek could also be coming from the shackles. I have one that squeeks all the time. The noise comes from the rubber rubbing against the metal plates of the shackle itself.
I've just been too lazy to loosen up the bolt and nut and apply some lithium grease to the rubber bushings.
