true flow cai & tuning anyone with experience?

I'm looking at buying this kit #20502 for the 5.4
I like the idea of using the stock air filter housing (cooler air) and there foam filters are second to none in terms of filtering. I want to know if a custom tune would be in order for this cai? I know with the majority of other kits out there its highly recomended. If i were to run this kit with no tune would i not gain any power without the tune? From what i've been reading seems like people running cai without a tune have throttle lag issues? No where on there site does it say anything about needing a tune? I just dont want to drop so much money on the intake and tune (current funds wont allow) ive been looking online and can pick one up between $150-$200.
where i live theres always dust storms so this kit definetly appeals to me.

website claims 12hp and 17lbs trqe. for our trucks. not bad.

thank's in advance for any insight!
