Trans upgrade anyone?-reply

I hope this is of help. I found this article while seeking help for my '92, E250. It starts with the teardown and goes through all the components that should be inspected.

From what I can tell, for abt $200-300 extra, Ford's tranny's would last longer and work alot better.

I got my complete valve body from Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips. I also went with a mag-hitech deep pan, custom tune from PHP with lowered line pressure, and switched all fluid over to synthetic schaeffer oil.

Lonnie builds lots of these guys for the heavy modded t-bird's, Mark's, and L's. I don't regret this purchase at all. When the truck shifts under WOT it is unreal how hard it hits.

Best mod I've done.

If you have never rode in a truck with a shift kit I'd say you should before you buy one. They are not for everyone as the first to second shift can hit pretty hard for daily driver. If you do lots of bumper to bumper driving it can get pretty pesky.

I'm also wondering what I can do, stalls/converters? My next mods are going to be to my tranny also.

Better results

I guess you found some good methods for upgrading your tranny. It also sounds like a seltbelt is mandatory. Just Kiddin'.

Anyway, ever get a vibration in the drive train , while cruising abt 50 -60. Not there as much when picking up speed. Also seems like the tranny is starting to show some prob's. Also as of late, I don't feel the tranny kickdown when I turn off the OD. Even when going 30-40 mph.

Just seemed like you might be able to help.
