My tailgate is shut and latched on the drivers side but the passanger side is up and out about 1/2 an inch. I was in a hurry and shut it by grabing the drivers side and slaming it. I normaly close it from the middle.
I can take it to the dealer but it would rather save the time and fix it myself.
Anybody have any experience with this?

No issues with mine. May be a defect in the tailgate since they are generally pretty solid.

 

I assume you can not open it with the handle. Try removing the access panel from the inside to get to the mechanism and releasing it that way.

 

Thanks for the replies. Woke up this morning and had my GF hold the handle open while I kicked the crap out of it from the inside. Popped right open!

 

Nice job, way easier than going to the dealership with it.
