Exhaust opinions.

Well Guys I took the plunge and decided to go to the dealer and found a truck that has me sold.

I found a brand new 08 f150 supercab stx 4x4 which is in my price range and am waiting till monday to find out if I am approved and if I am then I will be taking home the new truck.

I am looking to doing new exhaust on the truck and wanted your opions.

I was thinking of doing one large tip out the passenger rear but havent seen many for the f150s

It's 4" I had the same on mine a few months ago. I don't have any pictures of it on my truck but I do have some of the tip HERE This tip looked really good on the truck. Now I have the dual 4" tips from the Corsa cat back system. I can take a picture of that if you would like.

With the headers, cats and that catback there was way to much drone for me. It sounded great otherwise, very deep and low. The Corsa has no drone at all but the sound isn't the same. It's got a higher pitch sound and had me a little nevus at first. Almost like a ricer it mellowed out after I put some miles on it and sound a lot better now, still not as good though, but at least I don't have anymore drone.

Can you define drone? and I dont want very must interior noise at all but out the back I want it to sound loud. I am a big fan of deep and loud but just not in the cab lol.

here is a photo of the new truck.

looking good...and that dealer sounds like a keeper

btw, when did the stx get PTM bumpers? especially since it's a lower trim than XLT and they don't get PTM bumpers unless optioned that way

I actually like the 08's rims better than your old STX's 17" rims...then again, I'm a big fan of the OEM Ford rims most times anyways

Theyve always had PTM bumpers since they came out, XL's would be the one with chrome or argent bumpers, and Ballin, look into the magnaflow SISO system, I have the SIDO and it has no drone at all, I have heard the SISO and it is slightly quieter in the cab and pretty close outside. If you want a bigger tip than the 4'' that they offer, just buy one

so you want one large tip and great low sound without any drone in the cab, huh?

CORSA SPORT EXHAUST is the only way to go.

Here is my thread when my Corsa came in the mail. You can see that it comes with an 8" tip.

And here is the thread after I got it installed so you can see some pics on the truck

I've had it for about 7 or 8 months and its great!

For me, the cab noise was noticeable at hwy speeds, where the engine had a little load on it, not enough for it to down shift but enough to bog it a little. It would get worse as the load on the engine would increase until it would downshift. I used a sound meter and found that it was reading 94dba in these conditions. The rpms where this happened was in the 1800-2200 range. It was reading in the upper 80s all other times while driving. The only time it was in the 70s was at ideal... all these readings were done with the windows up.

If you decide to go with the Corsa system it won't be anywhere near as deep, but you won't have any cab noise/ drone at all. I have the Touring system on mine, it gets very loud at wide open throttle and is very quite when not, it's like have a stock yet loud exhaust. Over all I'm happy with it but it's just not the same as the MBRP system in sound. If you want your truck to sound like it has a big block in it go with the MBRP and wear ear plugs Unless your adding headers you probably won't have as much drone as I had anyways.

The plusses I see with either of these two are:
Corsa - quite and loud when you want it without any drone
MBRP - Very deep tone to it and has a better looking exhaust tip.

The negatives of them:
Corsa - I'm not a big fan of the dual tips on the SI/SO kit, you can tell it's only duals at the tips when standing next to it. I also am not a fan of their single tip for this application either.... I like it round not oval Mine had a ricer sound at first but has gotten better with some mileage on it, still not as deep as I like but I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too
MBRP - Drone... that's it. I liked everything else otherwise

Good luck with what ever you do decide to go with and congrats on the new truck

I am still leaning towards the MBRP exhaust. I have been talkin to pimprohr and he loves how it sounds every time he starts the truck he said.

This time I am going to look into a bunch of brands before I make my final decision.

thanks for the input guys!
