Need Help ASAP! Passenger Window Issues

Hello!

Well, 5 months and 5000 miles into ownership, I'm having my first vehicle problem and have a few questions. I have a regular cab 2004 new body style F-150.

On the road this morning and it was such a nice day that I just had to have the windows down. Got on the interstate and when I decided to roll the windows up, at about 50%, I hear a weird noise and my passenger's window slowly retreats back downward and back into the door. I did not have any previous issues with the window, it had been working 100% until this morning. My questions are:

1. What is the worst-case scenario as to what happened? After reading the forums, I'm guessing that I'll need to replace the window regulator. Is that the only thing that I need to do? I don't think that there are any problems with the window switch or anything like that - I can still hear the motor trying to do its thing when I press the window button up or down.

2. Is there a quick fix to keep my window up for the time being? I have an 80 mile round trip commute to work on Monday and don't think that taping up some cardboard over the window would be a good (or safe) fix. If I remove the door assembly, can I wedge a couple of pieces of wood between the bottom of the window and the door frame to keep the window up? I don't think that painters tape would hold my window up for very long, and I cringe to think what duct tape would do to my paint!

3. Looking online at Tascafordparts.com, I see that there are assemblies for the Right Side and the Left Side. Which one do I need? At first I was thinking it would be the Right Side as when driving, the window is on the right. But when viewing from the front of the vehicle, it would be the Left Side. Why can't they call it driver's or passengers side? Either way, I may just go to the stealership and pay a premium to get the part ASAP.

My dealer has quoted me $380 to fix the window, so if can get by with a ~$100 part and an hour of my time, I definitely want to go that route! I'm not very mechanically inclined, but from what I've read on this forum, it's a fairly easy fix.

I guess I am thankful that we had nice weather today (and good weather forecasted for the next few days) and that my window didn't go crashing into the door and break the glass.
