I don't think they take the dash out, but it is a 4 hour procedure, they must be going in underneath the dash.

No update, I dropped it off at the dealership (Boundary Ford) that was familiar with the problem and they told me that their 07 parts truck was on its third blend door actuator. They kept my truck until 3:30 and then called me to tell me they didn't have time to work on it. THANKS JACK ASSES, I stayed in that town an extra day just so they could fix it (rental car, hotel, food) all for nothing.

I called Ford Canada and asked them about this "soon to be released new blend door actuator part" and they couldn't tell me anything and the guy referred me to a huge dealership by my house and told me to call them. I called them, left a message as I was directed to do and never heard back. I guess they don't want my business either. I am going to back to my original dealership with it on the 20th and I am not taking that POS back until it is fixed, I don't care if it takes 10 new actuators before they find one that works.

I buy a new vehicle every two years so that I have something reliable due to my work, I have already had this POS in the shop 4 days now for this freaking problem meaning that I have lost 4 days of work and a soon to be fifth. I spent 9 hours driving yesterday with the climate control not working and I am about ready to trade this thing in on something non-Ford as it is pretty much undrivable when it is pumping out piping hot air the entire time.

Another update

Today they removed and replaced the dash to replace the blend door motor.

Part # 4L3Z-19E616-BA, from what I gather this is a different actuator from the one they replaced last time. On the ride home I actually had cool air and no clicking/whirring from the dash. I have a long trip tomorrow, so I'll see if it keeps working correctly.

Mine was the same way (lowering to 60 to make it stop). Did the replace the actuator that is on TOP of the heater box? The one they replaced on the side of mine didn't do it, but the one that was on TOP, (part number in the post above yours) it did the trick. Best of luck to you, I know how frustrating it is. Luckily mine has worked since the last fix.

If you have small hands, an hour of time, some patience and $25 you can fix it yourself. I picked up the blend door actuator and replaced it myself in under an hour. I now have complete control of the temperature in the cabin. Woo hoo!!!!!

I can post the steps if anyone is interested...you DON'T have to remove the dash. I did it with only removing the radio but I have pretty small hands.

This is a different part number than what was listed in the above linked website, but when I google it, it comes up as the new number for the same part

Part Number: 5F2Z19E616AA
Alternate:
Make: Ford
Description: MOTOR ASY
Old Number: 4F2Z19E616FA
New Number:
ADP: 5F2Z*19E616*AA
Rey-Rey: 5F2Z-19E616-AA

The Verdict: It didn't blow hot air on me once on the drive home, temperature coming out of the vents remained steady, unlike before where it would switch every few minutes from hot to cold and back to hot again. The noise was there when I started it and then it quit, then half way through my drive it did it again for about a minute and quit. Before it wouldn't quit once it started, so it might be working correctly. I'll have to wait for a longer trip next week to see how it does, but for now the temperature issues seems to be fixed, which is what I wanted.
Update for mine.... finally had a chance to take my truck to the dealer & have it fixed. Same as part list cndcowboy posted above. Been 3 weeks, no heating issues & no longer sounds like I have a HDD in the dash, constantly booting up!!!

Just for the record, the part number that my dealer gave me was 9L3Z-19E616-E. It is the blend door actuator located just starboard (to the passenger side) of the radio. Requires an 8mm wrench to remove.

Judging by the fact that my truck is an '08 and this is an '09 prefix I'm thinking that the part was updated to address an issue...possibly the same one many of us are experiencing.

Good to hear you guys got it fixed. I think my dealer must have just pulled out my radio as well when they did it, because it sure doesn't look like the pulled the dash, even my shades were still in the same place when I got it back. Yet all my radio settings had been reset.

It would probably be a good idea for bdholsin to post the steps, if this many people are having this issue now, I can only imagine it will get worse as time goes on and warranties expire.

BTW-mine is still working

Mine is doing this same thing! Its been driving me crazy since I bought the truck but haven't had a chance to take it in.

Cdncowboy...which dealer around Calgary finally fixed it? or should I avoid them. I usually deal with Cam Clarke in Airdrie.

You do have to pull the radio and the pass air bag but not the dash. I think i read in a earlier post someone was charged 4 hours for this job?? if so they stuck it off on you. Warrenty only pays .5 hrs. If they dealership charged you 4 i wouldn't go back thats for sure! Its not that hard a process its just time consuming.

Crowfoot Ford, they are usually pretty good to me. I have heard decent things about Cam Clarke though. Good luck.

If it makes you feel better, the automatic and manual climate control systems are the same in terms of blend doors and blend door actuators. The only difference in the "blower" system is a blower motor resistor (manual) vs a blower motor actuator (automatic).
