so I went to the shop today.....

to get the new wheels and tires on the truck, and get my alignment done after puttin on the AS leveling kit. the tech comes to me and says he cant align my truck because ive altered the suspension and that I need to get a bigger control arm? Another guy said it could be that since my truck is still new with roughly 7K miles on it the suspension isnt (broken in enough) with the kit on to align it.......so I went to an offroad store they refered me to another shop and I went....they did my alignment and it seems to do fine but still seems to drift somewhat to the right...........so does this mean the alignment didnt work? could it be the tires need replacing cause theyve got some wear on them but will last for a few months until i can get new ones.

anybody have a problem with getting an alignment done after putting on the AS leveling kit?

I have the NCD 2-1/2IN kit on my truck and when I had my aligned I took it to the dealer and they didnt have a problem. A vehicle will always drift to the right a little becaus roads have a slight crown to them for water drainage. I wouldnt worry about it unless you see some really unusual tire wear.

Yes they are full of crap there is no reason why a GOOD alignment tech cant align your truck. There are hundreds of guys on here with the AS and there are a few that have been told these lies just like you. Did you try to Ford dealer? If not then thats where I would go.

Yeah, I am nearly 7" higher than stock now and they aligned my truck to factory specs with factory control arms. What a moron.

X2. A leveling kit 'should' only affect the toe setting, which is like the easiest setting to adjust on a front end alignment. Camber/Caster should not be affected by just a leveling kit. Take it to the dealer.

Take in account road crown and cross winds when you're driving. Which ever side of the road you're on, your truck should want to slightly head towards the ditch.

Go back and kick that shop in the nuts. I had my truck aligned right after I did the AS install, and then did it again myself about 3 weeks ago (good thing too, I wasnt exactly pleased with how well they did, although it could have just gotten that bad out of wack in 3 months too).

If it still pulls to the right, its either the road (a lot of crown) or else they didnt take road crown into consideration enough when they aligned it.
They might have aligned it and it ran perfect down the road they test drove it on, but maybe the roads youve been on are crowned a little more....

If it seems like its on every road and bothering you, take it back to tell, tell them they just aligned it but it still pulls a little to the right. They should throw it back on the rack for you, add a little + camber on the left side and it should run down the road pretty well then--assuming nothing else is out of wack.

You need to take it to an alignment shop. Dont go by alot of those "one stop shop" places because they dont know what they are doing half the time. I have the same problem with a 2.5 kit and I was told I needed a camber kit. Which is bs. I took it to a dealership and aligned it myself cuz I know how to use the machines and a buddy works there. But pretty much if you have worn your tires you would know and it would take a good bit of miles unless your alignment was way the hell off. Just take it to an alignment shop and they can fix it and do it right.

Think you have that bassakwards. My kit effected my caster/camber. Not the toe in and out.

March 2005, installed AS 2.5" leveling kit. Took it to a dealer. They aligned it no problem. Never a mention about a camber bolt kit. About 1.5 years later bought new tires. Went to get alignment from exact same dealer. No Go. They said that I needed a camber Bolt kit. I said no. I insisted that they did the previous alignment and even show them my receipt which I keep in my file. They even charged me $80 because they had put in on the lift. Left dealer and drove straight to a local tire house. $60 and they aligned it no problem. No camber bolt kit mentioned. EFFIN DEALERS! This was August 2006. Alignment still holding good. Have not and will not ever take my truck into a dealer for ANY servicing again. IMO They are as crocked as any politician.
