First long trip in the 08 Screw 4x4

I go the 2008 SuperCrew 4x4 5.4 on a long drive for the first time. It now has over 1000 miles on it. The gas mileage was impressive. For the first 50 (or so) miles I put the cruse on 62. It bounced around betwen 19 and 20 settling in closer to 19 at 19.1. then I reset and kicked it up to 67 where I ran about 18.5 for a while.

By this time my wife was eager to just get there, so I rest again and took the pedal myself moving up to 80 then back down to 75 as I passed a squad car set up on the median. That dropped MPGs down into the 17s.

All in all that was impressive. Daily I have not yet hit 14 with my stop and go, short trip driving. Now I wonder if I can hit 20 MPG at 55 MPH.

On the way back we were running about 18.5 as we neared Lake Delton.
We exited the freeway to take a look at the empty lake. By the time I made it back to the freway I was down to 17.5, and the entrance alone dropped the MPGs down to 17.3.
