The 'burban was the first I've ever seen/heard of this happening. I've done my own brakes since I was 16 and never had this happen....Let's see. 89 jeep YJ, 92 Ford Ranger, 03 Ford Ranger, 03 F150

What do i tell the idiots at the service department in the morning?? This sucks and not to mention my wife has to drive my truck to work which is like 120 mile haul
Sounds like they did something wrong but the caliper generally doesn't have bolts to hold it to the caliper frame because it has to slide crossways as you apply the brakes and as the pads wear. There are different arrangements to hold the caliper assy. in the caliper frame (the bolts are in the frame, not the caliper), but your frame still appears to be attached (bolted on). I am not specifically familiar with how the caliper piston assy. is held in the frame on an Exploder, hard to imagine how they could have missed putting the slide shims in (what probably holds the caliper tight in the frame), they must not have put the small bolt that keeps the slide shim from from sliding in. I have frankly never put Locktite on that bolt- if tightened properly I don't think it's necessary.

The caliper bolts to caliper slides which slide in and out of the frame as the brakes are applied

well guys everything is fixed up, took it there, he was apologetic(sp). He put me new brakes pads on an again apologized again. He said he's never seen both bolts fall out and somebody obvisously didnt do there job, he went straight back there and had a team meeting which made me feel better. I like the service manager a lot or i would have pitched a fit. He's always been fair w me. I will not take my auto's back there, lesson learned. . And thanks guys for dealing w me venting. i just can't stand for simple things that could have a huge affect to go overlooked.
