A Perfect Day on the F150
A Perfect Day on the F150
Amidst all the talk about the high cost of fuel, it is easy to forget the good side to owning an F-150, so I want to share my story.
I have an '05 Supercrew Lariat with a severely upgraded stereo system, but hardly ever use it, have 30k on the odometer. Last Saturday, I take this fine and very attractive lady on a second date, the first date was the night before. We were in Tucson, Arizona, and met for breakfast. I had no idea where to take her for a fun day, but then remembered of a 26 mile dirt road that goes all the way up to Mount Lemmon, so off we went. The trip took about two hours to reach the top of the mountain, about 10,600 feet. Along the way, the F-150 performed flawlessly, I used 4Hi, 4Lo, A/C, stereo, everything worked. The road was challenging, and mostly travelled by moded Jeeps and ATVs driven by sweaty dudes wearing cammo attire. My girl and I were having a grand time in the quiet comfort of the F-150 cabin, as we enjoyed the incredible scenery and excitement of the back roads. At the top of the mountain we had lunch at the ski lodge and spent time parked alongside the road in the comfort of the backseat, with a view to the city 10,000 feet below. Later in the afternoon we drove down the other side of the mountain, via the smooth paved road, where we encountered a little bit of rain and a rainbow here and there. A perfect day.
So, I now have a renewed appreciation for my F-150, and don't worry so much about the high cost of fuel. As they say, it is not the destination what is important, but the journey.
