Those w/Fabtech+spacer lift

I've had a slight popping coming from the front end ever since my install. Always double checked all the fasteners every so often and never really worried much about it.

Lately it's been getting more prononced, so I set out on a mission to find it yesterday. Everything is tight to spec and I sat under there for at least an an hour moving the tire back and forth slightly and could never pinpoint the source???

Sounds mostly like it's around the a-arm/coil over area mostly I guess. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the suspension being slightly over-extended due to the spacer.

Anyway... Just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else has run across any noise from theirs?

Thanks!

is it like a clicking sound? maybe when you turn the wheel? if so its your CV's binding from the spacer. but they shouldnt really considering they dont if you had it at stock with a spacer, i would figure that the lift would try and get the CV angles to be as close to stock as possible.

Yeah.. ball joints or cv's being over extended is the only thing I could come up with too. But the truck has only got 25K on it and did it since day one pretty much (after the lift). So it couldn't be from wear?

It's really hard to pin point the noise. The noise seems to travel though the suspension components, and sound like it's coming from where ever you happen to have your ear at the time. Very Strange.

It's a definite popping sound, when I turn and accelerate or off camber turn kind of thing.

I can make the noise with the truck in the driveway by jacking it up slightly to relieve the pressure on the tires and move the tires slightly back and forth by hand. But of course like that, everything is over extended. So a pop might be expected.

Just thought if maybe someone had the same setup and was noticing a pop. I could write it off as cv's or something to do with being over extended once and for all.

Seems with these trucks, we all have alot of the same problems in common... LOL!

What size spacer? 2.5" is to much in my opinion.

upper a-arm hitting the coil spring is common with a leveling kit

It's a 2" pre-load type spacer.

Not hitting the coil spring on this one. My Tacoma used to do that... was one of the first things I checked for.

Thanks though... for the responses!

Found it!!

I found the source of my popping. So I figured I'd post an update...

It was coming from my shocks topping out.

Can't believe I didn't think of this before, but I laid under the truck and basically bench pressed it upward in one quick motion and it moved a few inches, stopped abruptly and POP!

Problem solved... well not solved, but found.

I have the 2" in the coil pack (pre-load) type spacer. So the on top type (AS), would probably not have this issue.

One upside is it keeps my cv's from over-extending. Kind of like a built in limit strap.

Anyway... thanks for the help and suggestions.

Glad you found it.

If you can post some pics of your cv angles. Just want to compare.

There's a pic from the front in my gallery, you can kind of see them... The drivers side is pretty clear.

When I get a chance I'll try and get some better ones.

OK, I see... Looks much better then the AS on top like I had. Your truck looks good.

Reminds me of a old members truck. allrsdup

Thanks... those are kind of old pics actually.

It's got AR Chamber Teflons and BFG KM2's now. They match a little better with the flares and gray front end I think. Just haven't had a chance to update my gallery.
