Keypad Code

Ever since I got my truck, I've had a useless keypad on the door that I don't know the combo to! The manual says that it's on a wallet card, which I don't have, and on the computer module. Where on the computer module is it? I talked to the dealer and they said that it would cost $40 just to tell me a god dang code.

Any help would be appreciated guys!

Your dealer should have given you the wallet card (a credit card-sized plastic card with the code on it) at the time they handed you the keys. Talk to your salesperson and see what he/she can do. If they didn't hand it to you it probably is buried in the stack of owner's manual/quick reference guide/accessories/extended warranty/... manuals/pamphlets that came in the shrink-wrapped owner's manual kit that was in the glove box.

I don't know about the computer module, sorry.

Module is in A-4, behind the back seat, in your case behind the plastic wall

Punisher,
there is a module or box called a BCM (body control module) or BSM (body security module) or something like that. On this module is a sticker with a 5 digit numerical code, that is your original door code. On supercab and supercrew trucks this module is located on the back wall of the cab behind the rear seat and under the interior trim panel, on the drivers side. Not quite sure where it is on reg cabs, probably on the back wall behind the drivers seat.

Once you get the original code, write it down, you'll need it. There is a procedure to add a personel code to whatever 5 digit code you like, but you will need the original to do it.

Before you go thru with the trouble of pulling interior panels to get the code, make sure the keypad works. The default code to lock all doors is to push the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. If that works, chances are your keypad is good.

I pulled the back the rear panel and found a sticker with several numbers and letters, but the only 5 digit numbers was for the batch number, didn't work. I opened up the little compartment where the jack was and no combo. Maybe autozone was a fancy enough code reader to pull the combo out of the computer. I'll be damned if I ever pay $40 for a handful of numbers.

I just had to flirt with a nice old lady at the Stealership to get my code. Originally they wanted I think $55 dollars for it. Here is a thread for taking out the rear seat if you decide to go that route:

Good luck man.

I went out and took off the entire panel this time and still didn't find a module on the back at all. I think they might have relocated it to one of the side walls.

I think there was another place they put the code. Not sure what years. But I think it was up under the dash on the drivers side by the back of the radio. If you get a flash light and look around under there look for a sticker with the code on a little plastic box lookin thing? You shouldn't have to tear it apart to see it, assuming its there.

I have a similiar question.

I know my door code, and recently my girlfriend figured it out too, can it be changed, and how?

Yes and No. The factory programmed code is permanent and cannot be changed. You can add a second code if you like, but the first code will still be there and still work. And since you are probably thinking it, no you cannot erase the original code.

You basically have two options, disconnect the keypad so she can't use it, but then you can't either. Or replace the VSM box with one that has a different code in it.

Did you buy the truck new? If so the dealership SHOULD retrieve the code for free. We do it all the time. If you bought it there and they don't want to do it go raise a stink about it. Tell them your salesman didn't give you the code or it was missing. Squeeky wheel get the grease.

Guess you'll have to marry her now.
