My warranty just cancelled my policy...
I have Mercury extended warranty and got it last year Feburary. (2004 F150 Fx4 w. 55000miles) I had to take my truck in and found out I need a new rear end. THe warranty company sent their own tech out and he determined that since I have oversized tires on my truck that not only will he not fix it, but they cancelled my policy. Apparently I can only go 2-5% larger tigers and the 35s were 9% larger. OH well. I'm hopefully going to get the pro-rated reimbursement of my warranty and hopfully that will put a new rear end on for me. Man I love warranties...what a waste of cash!!

I am not sure if the Moss Warranty Act will apply to an aftermarket warranty but call the Federal Trade Commission and check.

If aftermarket warrantys ate held to the same laws, and as mentioned I am not sure they are, they have to prove your tires caused the failure. If they can not prove your tires caused it, and I have a hard time believing they can, they have to replace it.
Good luck bud

did you change your gearing for the 35s. if you did i'd call the warranty people again since they have already cancelled your policy and tell them about that. what is there to lose, you already lost the warranty. if they change there mind then more power to you otherwise i'd do as 4.6punisher said.

I read somewhere (can't recall if it was the owners manual or some other Ford document) that you can change the tire size up to 3%. This is due to how the calibration is "written" to the truck. I recall my days with Ford and working with the calibrators. Changing tires from just one brand to another with the same size was a PITA. Rolling resistance was the big factor that they needed to evaluate. Then there was fuel economy testing, brake group signoff and assembly plant buy-in. Sheesh, I'm glad I'm "retired" now.

I did not re-gear for the 35s. I called back the warranty company and tried to argue with them, but there was really no point. They don't really make that much money on the warranties so he had no problem cancelling my warranty and not working with me at all. Basically I couldn't even threaten him by saying I'll go to another warranty company. I just found out that they are going to reimburse me though a couple hundred more than it's going to cost to fix it so I'll be covered for this last time.
