Unhappy Visit to the dealer = CEL?

Took my truck into the dealer to get some work done. The work performed was Cam Phasers timing chain tensioner and gasket, and a clutch pack in the rear. When I got it back it had a exhaust leak that I don't remember (or I never heard it over the cam phasers) and after a few miles of driving my CEL came on. The code was for Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. To the best of my knowledge this usually means Cats or O2 sensors. Does the work performed by my dealer have any affect on on my exhaust? did they have to move anything out of the way that might cause an exhaust leak? Can an exhaust leak throw a CEL?

Its at the dealer now. He says he thinks it is the cats and should be covered by Fords emission warranty. I will keep posted when I hear more.

Well it is a 5 days later and I was told the Cats are on back-order. It must be a common problem if F150 cats are on back-order.

or maybe the demand was low so the manufacturer switched to making something else. being on backorder doesn't mean something is a common issue

the cam phaser repair has nothing to do with your exhaust issues. have you ever had an injector problem? if so thats probably why the cats are fubard.

I think we've all had injector problems at one time or another(hard starting, etc), its just a matter of proving that to the dealer.

No injector problems that I am aware of. It runs strong and starts like new every time.

I called to check on my truck today and still no cats.
