I just took some new pics of my truck so i figured i would throw them up here for consideration. I have an 05 XL Regular cab 2wd with a 2.5" Top Gun Customz leveling kit and 285/70/17 (33/11.5) Firestone Destination A/Ts. I have no rubbing whatsover and the truck looks a lot more proportional. They arent as aggressive as i would like but they do the job.

I'd be extremely carefull with slapping 35" tires on a 4x2 unless it has the 4x4 shocks swapped in conjunction to the 2.5" leveling kit

Tonka, which is it?

1st Post: you say 35" will fit.
2nd Post: I say they won't unless you get 4x4 shocks + leveling kit
3rd Post: you say 35" won't fit

I agree. A 35" tire WILL NOT FIT A 4x2. You can make them fit. But it will be alot more involved than just a leveling kit

I got rid of the hankooks before I took delivery. The dealer had some 265/70 Yokohama Geolanders which look 10x better and out perform the o.e.'s. I almost did the Grappler A/T's in the same size but looking back I'm happy with the Geo's, plus dealer gave me a great price on them. Careful not to go too much higher or else you might want to consider a re-gearing. If anything you could go alittle wider and maybe a 65 series.

Wolverine you said: "Careful not to go too much higher or else you might want to consider a re-gearing." Meaning don't get a leveling kit over 2.5" or so?

no he ment u might want to regear if you get a 35" tire or bigger. but u dont have to regear with stock size fx4 tires and a leveling kit.

Meaning a taller tire will affect your gearing. With a leveling kit and going up to a much taller tire you'll probably need 4.10's

Thanks for the clarification Wolverine, and Ballin your truck looks very nice. I'm definitely going for a similar look, just with a chrome wheel (since the truck is a beige color). So I'm pretty sure I'm going to steal your setup and go with the 2.5" Auto Spring Kit, and go with 285/70R17 . Now I just have to decide what tire will look best on the truck, and then figure out what wheel to let it sit on...man i have a lot of work left! Any suggestions for wheel make and/or model...keep in mind I'm trying to keep it as affordable as possible? You guys have been a HUGE help, keep the great information coming!

May I suggest the Firestone Destination M/T. Luckily you can get them in a 285x70x17 like you want.

They are an awesome mud terrain that lasts about 40,000 miles and is actually quiet on the road. I had them on my Bronco. I would have them on my F-150, but Firestone only makes a 15/16/17" rims...no 18" rims

btw, those side lugs actually work. I know your truck is a 4x2, but there are situations where you can use all the traction you can get

Well, after looking at the web site and trying to figure out if I could attach/paste some photos of my tires, looks like I am disabled from doing so from the site administrator.
However, I think your on the right track, but wouldn't go any bigger.
