Ford recomends running BP...

I do when I can...

But what is the reason behind this??

My truck does seem to get a lil better MPG...
But is that it.....

Oh, If it helps with my ? I fill up with 89 once a week, 3 times a month and 93 the other times...
If I'm not running BP then I tend to run Shell..

BP was paying for gas caps for a while. So if someone was going to pay for parts of your merchandise so you didn't have to, you would recommend them as well.

Ford recommends BP because BP writes Ford a fat check to put that on the gas cap.

DOH, got beat to it.^

Yep, Ford and BP have an advertising agreement. I think Ford is one step away from looking like a NASCAR with "Joe's Appliance Repair and Repossession" painted on the side of their cars/trucks.

By the way: if "Joe" is reading this I apologize.

yep, agree with everybody above.

IMO though, the BP gas is crap. It has more ethanal than typical and my MPG suffered greatly when I ran tanks of it. luckily I figured out the BP gas was the problem and haven't touched it since.

Well crap. I had started putting BP gas in mine cause I noticed the stickers on the pumps at the Shell station in town said that it could have up to 10% Ethanol. Guess Ill try Chevron now, unless someone knows something about them. If not Chevron, then I guess I could try the "Quick Spot"

Where I live, BP & Citgo have ethanol and most others don't. I don't buy ethanol gas. I realize some places have mandated ethanol but there are some advantages to living in the backwoods in a backwards state.

As far as I know, everything here in Texas has up to 10%. Cut mileage about 10%. What is frustrating is there signs say "May contain up to 10%". So, you don't ever know for sure.

BTW, buying 93 octane when your truck only needs 89 is the same thing as stuffing dollar bills in your gas tank. It really doesn't do anything for your engine except make it cost more to operate.

Even with the Edge set to level 3 at those times???

Gee, you think that might make a difference?

If your engine is tuned for 93 octane and you use anything less, you are risking damage to your engine.

My comment was directed toward anyone that uses higher octane gas than the engine/tune was designed for. That is throwing money away.
