Hello all--I did a search, but could not find the answer to my specific question. I installed a rolling code homelink module (ebay $23.00) in the visor on my 07 KR F150. The install was fairly simple--thanks to all the tips on these forums, but I cannot get it to work with my garage door. If anyone is familiar with these, hopefully they can help me out. I am wondering if the other end of the positive and negative wires is used as an antenna for the transmitter. I hooked up both leads from each wire on the harness to a 12V and a ground that I tied into the visor light. The Homelink works as far as the LED light flashing, accepting a code from a remote, etc, but I cannot get it to work when the "learn" button is pressed on the opener itself in order for the Homelink to learn the rolling code. It would make sense that because I can hold up a separate remote/opener and it accepts the code from it, but not from the garage unit itself, that maybe each end of the harness wires act as an antenna, but I don't know. If anyone is familiar, please let me know. Thanks.

 

If it's a rolling code opener, then you must perform 2 steps...

First, train your homelink to replicate the remote... Then you must also train your opener to accept the homelink. Usually there's a button on your open that you must press, and then operate the homelink to get the opener to "learn" it.

how would i get a "home link" i have a garage but the only thing is that my truck does not have the homelink system. where do i get one? thanks

 

You can find them on eBay. Units for any manufacturer will work - they are all the same and not make specific.

The only thing you need to look for is if a unit supports ROLLING CODES or not. Your garage door either does/does not use rolling codes, so make sure you get the correct type.
