Well, I dropped my truck off this morning at the dealership for the brake booster hose recall and crossed my fingers that I would get out unscathed. NOPE! They called a little while ago to say that somehow the wiring harness that goes to the transmission and transfer case was wedged between the engine block and the bellhousing and that it was obstructing a bolt hole. I asked if this could be a factory defect and they said that it was highly unlikely. The guy that owned the truck before me told me that he had never done anything but normal routine maintenance. So now they have to pull the trans back to get the wires out and inspect them. I really dont know why I'm surprised.

That sucks sorry to hear that! And I would try and argue it with them bc they can recall the vehicles maintence history anyway and see that nothing major has been done to the truck.
Not saying it will work but its worth a shot.

did you bring your truck to them for anything other than the recall?if not then im wondering why the hell did they look your truck over.i worked at a dealer and if i had a vehicle for recall only then guess what.thats what they got the recall performed.one thing you want to do for clarification would be to have them show you what they are talking about.also the only way i can see that happening is if the previous owner had a starter grind the teeth on the flexplate(flywheel).then in that circumstance they would pull the trans back and replace the flex plate and install a new starter.then the moron that did the job didnt pay attention when they stabbed the trans back up.just an idea sorry.

I did go in and take a look at it. The reason he found it is the hose they are replacing is right above where he found this problem. He did get it fixed and he found that whatever monkey that did this also broke off a bolt in the block where the trans meets up right where this wire was pinched. I'm actually really pleased with my dealer right now because he only charged me 1.5 hours labor to pull the trans back and straighten this mess out. Luckily the wires weren't cut or mashed and all he had to do was secure the wire loom and put everything back together. WHEW!

Because times are slow, and even on a recall, if I can upsell some more repairs and labor, I'm gonna try and do just that. And besides, the recall is performed from underneath the truck, so it ain't like the guy doing the work went out of his way to notice some damaged wiring.
see i never got to do the recall so i didnt know about how close to the wiring that line was.i left before parts were available.a few years ago i tried doing inspections when they were in for just a recall or whatnot to make a few extra hours but we started getting customer complaints so we stopped.ever since i do whatever and roll the vehicle.also to me i found that in my area no one has money so i wasnt making anyhours anyway.the dealer i worked at changed so much hence why i quit.not to get off topic but im finally now able to work and get paid on the clock.no more flat rate b.s.
