I went to engage my 4x4 today and no luck. High and Lo doesn't work. No light or anything. Since my warranty is now up where would you first check. Possibly IWE solenoid? I have done a search but still cannot find what I want.

Take it to the dealer, and put a gun to their head. They then may comply, and do it under warranty. Either that, or offer a happy ending

I always try to be the model of contributing members.

before you do anything

1. get a big hammer
2. crawl under truck with hammer
3. give the t-case 4x4 selector motor a good whack with hammer
4. shift into 4x4

those 4x4 selector motors are notorious for freezing up. For some reason they are impossible to seal from moisture and eventually will corrode in place. the hammer whack may knock the corrosion lose and allow it to operate. I was able to drag about a yr out of 1 before. Inevitably, you'll have to replace the motor if this is happening.

to prevent this from happening, you should engage 4x4 at least 1 time a month. keeps the corrosion down

hope this is the problem if it isn't something simple like a fuse. I've had to replace 2 of them in older F series. They cost roughly $300 from the dealer...but I was able to buy entire working t-cases for $100 with the motor attatched.

Get to the dealer ASAP. You are supposed to get 1 post warranty period claim, and given how close you are you should qualify. They don't like doing it, but go in asking very nicely and talk to the service manager to plead your case. Explain that you were out of town on a trip WITH the truck and went over the mileage before you could get home to have it serviced- and that you noticed the problem ON the trip.

Should work

I took my daughter to pre school this morning and 4 hi engaged just like it should. I checked fuses before and none were blown. Thanks for all of your guys ideas on what might be wrong. I am going to call dealer and see if they will do anything.
