Hmm...

Didn't realize that this was happening to everybody...
I thought maybe I had a "Friday Afternoon" Truck.
I am definitely going to the dealer after work today!

Good Stuff!

You know what's really pissing me off right now are those stupid little rubber-ish pieces that attach to each end of the wiper cowl. Both of mine are rapidly deteriorating. If I so much as touch it, it crumbles apart. The really bummer part is that they don't sell them separate from the cowl. So that means that I would have to spend almost $200 to get those freaking rubber things! Really makes me upset!!!!!

Mine was fixed with a New cowl just this past winter, it's loose again now that I am over the 3x36 warranty.......once every few days I just lightly push it down, I've learned to live with it, however If there was a nice aftermarket one, I'd hop all over it!....

i know this is bringing up an old post but i got my cowl off to replace the squirters on both sides and have the pop up issue as well. i am trying to find a pic of where the screw goes. im more of a visual person LOL. anyway i am going to go ahead and paint them while i have them off. may as well since the hard part is done.

prolly not unless you have super super warranty. it looks to be an easy fix. im just not 100% sure where the screw goes. once i figure that out i should have it done soon.

just got both sides cleaned with simple green. letting them dry now. i may hit them again with simple green.

one thing i noticed was the drivers side had some weather striping but the passenger side didnt. i figured i may as well replace that as well on both sides while they are off.

I have been looking all over h***L looking for a pic I posted here ages ago, can't find it. Anyway under the rubber weatherstrip in front of the cowl, where the right section overlaps the right one (or the other way around, can't remember), under the rubber, insert (or drill) a small self tapping SS screw down through both lips of the plastic cowl into the metal. The weatherstrip will go back and cover the screw head and will not be seen. Did mine two years ago..never moved since

My truck does this and the cowl has been replaced twice under warranty. I pop it down everyday...

It makes me feel better that I'm not alone lol!

Wow, no kidding. I just got my truck last month and thought my cowl was messed up. It was beginning to really irritate me. Glad to hear I'm normal! (Well, at least in this respect).

I plan on painting mine at some point too, guess I'll just screw 'er down while I'm at it. Thanks for reviving the old thread Liquid Chicken, and for the tip sam1947.

Had mine fixed by the dealer at least a year ago. It has never popped back up since.

When we bought our new car I noticed the new 09-up F150's have a completely different cowl. I wonder if it will work with the 04-08 trucks since the end of the hood looks to be the same and it has the push fasteners on the ends in the same spot.

Anybody find a solution to these end pieces? Washing my truck today I noticed the passenger side was gone and the drivers side was loose, crumbled in my hands as I was trying to move it back into place. Now I have about a 1" hole on each end of the cowl. Plus the popping up in the middle
