Hi

Hey all. Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. Just got a 06 2WD 5.4L XLT scab with 18K miles for under wholesale from a dealer. They really want to get rid of trucks!

I had every intention of keeping the truck stock and I logged on here to check for TSB's, common problems, etc but after seeing all of your awesome trucks I really have the mod bug! Thanks a lot!!

On the horizon are 22's, 2/4 lowering kit, CAI and exhaust. Any suggestions on the CAI? I have read some threads about the CAI's causing the engines to run lean?

Any common problems I should be on the lookout for?

Welcome to the site! Looks like you are well on your way to emptying your wallet!

The only problem is what you've listed about the lean condition an intake causes on stock tuning. Getting custom tunes tuned for a specific intake will solve this problem. I suggest the Gryphon tuner from Power Hungry Performance.

Looking forward to the pics. Take care and have fun. I have found this site to be a wonderful source of information on our trucks, lots of good people here to help you out.

the 04 trucks had a stricter PCM than later years. This caused lots of CEL's with CAI's. Your 06 shouldn't cause an issue unless you buy a AF1 3.5" CAI...it requires a programmer to run it

The Volant CAI rocks IMO. Sounds and looks good on my 2006, and 0 CEL's after about 20,000 miles with it installed

Welcome aboard. Check out the search function to start for any questions. A lot of them have been answered or at least can help you get specific questions to pin point your answer.

Note the other sub forums such as engine, wheels and tires, etc. Also check out the care and detailing forum. Lots of good info to keep your truck looking new and running new.

Create your gallery and post some pictures.

Have fun!
