Headlight switch question - backlighting

Ok, two stealership's have told me that I am drugs!
Why would Ford design a headlight switch and make it look like there is suppose to be a backlight, behind the actual ****? But the the stealerships are telling me that it is not possible, as it is a solid piece of plastic???

All the lights, on the outside ring, light up at night:

But, on the following part, there is no backlight at night?!?!?!? But it looks like there should be? I just wanted to 'confirm' with you guys that this is correct..... Is there no backlighting behind this ****??

If there is not, it just does not make any sense to me.

Whatever. I ask a valid question and get this?

The same EXACT switch is on this truck (I know it isn't a FORD), and it lights up. That is why I was asking.

Hmmm, if the others light up, you'd think the middle one would as well. I've never really paid much attention to it either on the F150 or on the Expy. Since there's only 4 positions total (including OFF), I usually know where the **** is.

Then again, most of the time I just leave it in Auto.

I think the **** is telling you that if you pull it out it will turn on your fog lights. The light symbol is telling that there is more lights available.

I know the 4 positions and the pull out feature for the driving lights. I was just curious if it was suppose to light up also. Thanks......

Nope the handle itself does not light up. The 4 wheel drive **** does not light up at all, selections or handle, you just get the dash lights. Also the window lock out button and the power mirror adjust button does not light up either. With everything else being lit up they should have lighted those ***** too!

You're probably right ... Ford does have a decent interior but it is definitely not the best in the auto industry. But I have to arguee that the VW or Audi interior are a tad better looking and more functional that BMW.

Now more to the point....it is so fitting that you are posting in a thread about buttons....is there an off switch to you???

Come on it was a legit question ~ but then again if 'buy a bmw' is the extent of your knowledge I see why you posted it twice.
