tailgate badge fell off

Anyone else's F150 tailgate badge fall off? I was waxing mine today and there was a bunch of water behind it. Pulled lightly and the whole thing isn't even sticky anymore. The back of the badge is like ridged though - common sense would say if it was less ridged (ie. more contact area) this wouldn't have happened.

Worst part -- there are two holes now...and the tape is REALLY stuck to the tailgate, so I don't know if I could re-tape it without removing what's already there.

--

What is the best way to get it back on? Clear silicone? It is still under 3 year, 36k, so if I have to I can bring it back to the dealer.

Defiantly bring it back to the dealer if its under warranty. I'd be BS if my emblems were falling off.

The same thing happened to me, but it was the F-150 badge on the fender. I thought maybe someone stole it but I think it fell off. I got a new one from Ford for $17 and some change. It came with a new sticky backing so I removed the old one. I had the same two holes also. Its so the badge goes on straight.

But yours is on the tailgate and water will get inside. I'd take it to the dealer if I were you.

Against my better judgement, I brought it into the dealer today. Dropped it off for 5 hours. They ended up putting little scratches all over the place extending out past the badge. It's definitely back in place but I could have done better myself - I just figured I'd let the professionals handle it.

So anyway, get home, spend an hour using Scratch-X and some Meguir's cleaner wax to get most of the scratches out.

It honestly looked like they just pulled out their wallet, took their Giant Eagle advantage card, and started scraping away vigorously. Next time, I'll do it myself with clear silicone.

I would have been pissed. I would have made them fix that too
