Need Help, Brakes/Vacume issue

Hello Everyone, I need some input from anyone that may have an idea of what's up.
Ok Yesterday, I was cranking my truck, well it did not crank completly, what I mean is that it seems to back fire out through the intake, well I cranked it again and it cranked right up, running fine, But i was hearing a very loud air leak and the brakes would work but they were like having the old manual brakes, well I figured that something related to the brake booster, The metal line that runs along the drivers side of the engine has a metal tube that allows a vacume line to run to the top of the intake manifold, when I remove that line the air leak stops, I am assuming that it is because I am taking the pressure off, I got under the truck and it appears that there is a T on the very back of the engine at the front of the transmission. Can anyone confirm this, it is almost impossable to get to from below or the top, But it appears there is a runbber hose off, It is very hard to see. has anyone else had this happen and if so, does anyone have any ideas as of how to get to this to repair it without having to pull the intake.

Thanks everyone.
Mike

There is a recall right now on 05-06 150's for the exact problem you have, a backfire causing a vac leak on the power brake booster. How does your brakes feel now? Does it feel like your trying to stop 20 tons? Do you have a very hard pedal? Anyway take it to the nearest dealer and have them check for the brake recall, if your truck is one of them, then they should fix it for free.

AFAIK the recall is for 05-06 only. It sounds like you just have a deteriorated hose. If you can get to it easily, replace it. Your hose is probably just dryrotted from age and sprung a leak, it happens.
