mileage on 04+ lifted
hey guys i am hoping to get a newer 04+ F150 (4x4) and was wondering what mileage yall who have lifted them are getting. I was planning on doing a 6" lift, 2" AAL, and 37" tires..what MPG am i looking at after the lift and 37's (without a progammer and re-geared) and then if i re-gear and add a programmer what kind of mileage will i be looking at? will gears and a programmer significantly help out the MPGs once lifted?? thanks
I think you might be wrong. If you return the truck to factory specifications or as close as possible your rpms will be similar to stock. It all depends on which gearset you go with but they have conversion calculators online.
Re-gearing will help you with around town driving. The engine will not work as hard to get you going. It will hurt you when cuising on the highway. Josaih claims he gets up to 19mpg on the high at 62-65 mph. He also has e-fans, cats, and a CAI. My combined mileage for around town and highway is 13-14 mpg, and that is with a 36" tire. Well they are almost a 37, the official diameter is 36.8". All i have is the basic hypertech power programmer. I would recommened getting one to set your shift points really helped the transmission when trying to find the right gear.

Well i have a 2.5levling kit with 33's and im only getting 12-13 max. Thats with the edge and exhaust. Its killin me....cant imagine lifted right now. Thats with a light foot around town, damn hills
i am planning on getting a programmer, just was unsure on the gears..i doubt i'll re-gear it now cuz i'll be mostly on the highway traveling to Statesboro for college, and my dad finds it hard to believe with me getting ~10-13 MPG now (33's, and t-bars cranked) that some people are getting 15-16 with a lift kit on and 35s or 37s. Someone mentioned Josiah getting 19 MPG on highway on 37s? is this correct?
I get better gas mileage on the interstate with my 37's and stock 3.73 gears, CAI, and custom VMP tunes because the 37's are so heavy they have a lot of inertia, therefore requiring less power from the engine to keep them turning. However, stop and go driving gas mileage will decrease because the engine has to work more to get them moving. Nice truck by the way...how long is that antenna you have??
I will admit I have a heavy foot and with even a 2wd I only get 14mpg in town.
