Is it a factory replacement window? An aftermarket CR Laurance? A little more information here would be helpful. I've installed about four CR's, and they are way too easy as far as the wiring. The wiring harness even comes with a spade to tap under an existing fuse in your panel, as well as the rocker switch, motor, etc.

As for your truck, I highly doubt the wiring is there already in your truck. Do you have power seats? As stupid as it may sound, I think they were required in order to get the power rear slider - they may share the same harness. Try building your truck on-line (basic w/o options) and see what options it commands in order to get the power slider. It may give you an indication as to what options share the common wire harness. If you aren't looking at a factory window (which is built by CR Laurance anyway), then don't worry and buy it. The CR Laurance comes with all the goodies... it's just that a Ford Genuine Replacement probably won't come with the harness and switch like the real aftermarket window.

no i dont have power seats and it is a factory replacement. it is just the window and the motor. i assume that i could get the harness and wiring from ford, correct? it sounds like a pretty easy install as far as wiring so i would just need someone to put the window in. thanks.

No, you do not have the harness required to make it functional. ( I added the power slider to mine). However, the harness and switch are available seperately for @ $50. It is part # 4L3Z-14A411-AA and comes with a template as to how and where to mount the switch. I'd suggest letting a professional install the window to insure it doesn't leak. Other than that, have them plug the harness in and at least get it past the rear seat for you.

If you are adding heat, like you said you will need the new heater control and you will also need a new fuse block in the passagers side kick panel with the heater relay and fuse slots.

As for your heat wire, it should be there...as mine was when I added heated mirrors to my truck it was already there......and the mirrors and rear window defrost are the same harness part #......as for the slider I cant say, most likely not.

I've got an '06 XLT with heated mirrors, manual seats, and I've got the wiring in place for the power rear window.

Hey NCF150SC, when you ordered the switch, did it come with a harness, or is the harness stuffed up inside the headliner and you just had to plug the switch in?

The switch came with the harness, but it is intended to mount in the cluster surround finish panel. It came with a template to make the hole. Basically, my switch is between the headlamp switch and the steering column. It even had directions on which wires from the headlamp switch harness to tap into for my power and grounds.

Mine is factory installed and it leaks where the window slides. Plus it doesn't work half the time anyway. I'd rather have flat glass.......

Good luck

thats exactly why i was happy not to have the slider. my old truck had it and i hated it. my sisters slider never works on her truck. i would just leave your truck as it is. and spend the money on something else.

Mine doesn’t leak but creaks/rattles anytime I go over bumps or the truck frame flexes. I wish I'd gotten flat glass as well.

I dont think you can have stock power slider and defrost? I have the defrost mirrors and the power rear slider.

Its an option I would rather not have. Mine works fine, but I do see that it looks like it leaks. I keep mine under cover most of the time, so its not an issue.
Problems with the slider.
1) Leaks
2) Its a tiny window
3) Stuff from the bed blows into the cab.
4) It takes up room behind the back seat, leaves less room for amps.
5) Something else to break.

I'm on my second motor and it's not working now, factory junk. At least my moonroof still works.
