STS is not an option for many (even with the "snorkel kit"). It's easily susceptible to water intake damage. I take my truck offroad sometimes and it's enough risk without adding a lower intake to the situation. It's a bummer because I would love to run a turbo setup but S/C'ing is a safer bet for many of us here seeing as we drive "trucks".

Yeh I wouldn't be doing any offroading with it, no real places to go anyway in South FL lol. What the GM guys and others have done is fabbed protectors for the intakes (kinda like engine intake kits that have an L shaped section attached keeping most engine heat away from the filter), and no problems with rain or dirt now.

I would just be doing it to have more power towing and just fun truck, wouldn't be a daily . Only thing that has me worried is the tranny and stupid plug issues I keep hearing about.

Though I was just talking to a buddy and we really want to get a Trophy Truck and head out to Glamis or race Baja LOL.
