Need opinion on muffler change

Bout 2 months ago i bought the dynomax ultra flow and ran a dump w it, just not loud enought, i don't want the red neck sound just somthing that won't hurt performance and is kinda loud. I can return it and im thinkin of getting the race bullet, which one? 12in or 18in case length would you go with?? i know the 12 inch will be louder...

yep, shorter is louder. I've got a 18" maggie single in, dual out on my truck and it's okay, but probably not the loudness you want.

have you looked at the Magnapack muffler? it's a cherry bomb style muffler the Magnaflow makes. I had 2 18" Magnapack mufflers of them on my Mustang and I could set off car alarms. Magnaflow actually has a disclaimer saying their the loudest muffler they make.

I've only got experience with Crapmasters, Cherry Bomb, and Magnaflows...wish I could help with the Race bullet question.

Thanks for the input. What you think of the cherry bomb, thats an idea too in the extreme series. Only reason im thinkin of dynomax is bc they have a 90 day return on mufflers if your not happy. I know one thing I don't want flowmaster, every guy and their ken has them here where im at and im so tired of the same ole sound.

I've got th same setup as you right now, I'd be interested to see how it compares to the bullet...

I think I read that the bullet only gives like 2-4 db sound reduction over a straight pipe, so it should be pretty loud.

personally, I'd return your current muffler and go to Autozone/Checker/Shucks/Napa and buy a Cherry Bomb. They're $20-40. If you don't like the sound, you're only out a little bit of money.

I loved the sound my old 383 had with headers, cherry bombs and 2.25 pipes. Those old red ones are classics

the Volant is awesome. gives the 5.4 a 4-barrel sound under the hood and it helped with that throttle lag.
