Either your math is off or your truck is a V6! There is no way you get 22mpg.

There's a difference. Getting 22.6 or 21.9 mpg on a single trip is not really something to be surprised at. There are a lot of factors that influence this. To base it only off of one take of gas and a 7 hr trip, you should be lucky to get what you got.

However, there is a basis for conclusion that you do not get this as a daily average. My daily average on the other hand is currently 21.7 mpg over a course of a few months. Which is excellent.

However, don't be disappointed when you take it out later and you get 16.5 mpg.

But yes, even my truck will occasionally get 18 to 20 mpg, depending on the winds, traffic, load, etc.

Today I am getting 19 mpg towing roughly 2500#.

I have gotten 22 mpg on several trips, I usually get 19-20 on the highway with 3.55 rear and a 5.4, thats cruise set at 74. I usually get 13-14 in town because I have a heavy foot.

Tailwinds can make it possible. I got 18MPG coming home last week from San Antonio with my big *** truck. 20-25knot tailwind blowing on my trucks ***.

My Dad has a 2004 Supercrew F150 with a 5.4 and 3.73 gears. He regularly takes long trips and reports 19-22 MPG.

is it possible that your speedo is off. i know on my 70 el camino i have the wrong gear on the speedometer as compared to the rear end gear. when i am actually going 55 the speedo says 45.... so i just traveled a distance going 55but my odometer acts like i went 45.....

just a thought

oaw

During the big storm this january, i went duck hunting, and on highway 5 with a 77 mph tailwind, i was getting 24 mpg. on the way back against the wind, i was getting around 7 mpg.

I don't know if my truck is a freak too, but I can get 730kms out of a tank sometimes, which I find pretty impressive considering I have a 5.4L V8, and a heavy foot.
