I've seen the Roush pods in an F150. It looked somewhat strange to me.

One thing you might want to try is to tuck away a pod in the sunglass case overhead bin.

I think it would be quite cool to have it mounted to a motor and when the vehicle starts, it slowly folds down the panel with all your gauges overhead. There's already a hole cut in your headliner to accomodate the wiring.
