What to look for in nbs?

I have been contemplating upgrading to the nbs for a little while now. I'm sure this has been covered many times before, but I am "search impaired" and, as such, am forced to start a new thread for help.

What items should I be looking for good / bad on the nbs fords? Should I shy away from the '04 as maybe the "bugs" haven't been worked out? There is great financing options on the new '08s, although I'd rather not hit the depreciation wall so hard and may get a used one. 4x4 is almost a must, and probably a Scab with power locks / windows is all that I really "need" (read: want) right now. Where can I compare prices as to get a good idea of value? Emunds? KBB?

Thanks in advance!

Usually most people will also suggest staying away from the first year of a new generation (04). I think the biggest thing is the spark plug issue when moving to some of the NBS. 5.4l has some problems breaking them and costing people a fortune to fix.

Some of them have rear window leaks (my 05' did, but was fixed after two trips to the dealer).

Theres a few other ones that people will chime in with.

Stay away from the '05 5.4's, not just because of the spark plug issues (ALL 3V's have that) but because of the bad injectors. In general, the 05's were not as reliable as other years.

You should be safe with an 06 or newer in any configuration.

Only problem I've had with my 06 XLT screw is the leaking 3rd brake light...One trip to the dealer and was fixed under warranty.

These are generally very reliable trucks

Soooo, no '04 and no '05

I was also wondering if it would make more sense to just wait until the new trucks come out - I'd assume dealers would want to move the now new, but soon to be older body styles out? Does that make sense? Like I stated, they have great financing options now, but I wonder what it'll look like come this fall? Granted, finances aren't a BIG worry, but it's nice to see that 0% for 60 months

Thanks so far guys

My 04 has been very problem free, so not all 04's are bad. I would have a Ford dealership run an oasis on the truck that you are looking at buying, then you can see what has been fixed on the truck and how many times it has been to the dealership.

I just drove past Dahl Auto in Onalaska today and they had alot of F150's sitting there, so take a look over there if you have time this weekend. Call up Keenans and ask for Vince, they usually do a large volume of truck sales plus their service dept is great!! (The only place that my father and I will take our vehicles to) I bought my truck at Brenengen, and got a awesome deal, they had by far the best prices when I was looking. If the link works this is what they currently have in stock and the prices look pretty good also. http://auto.brenengen.com/search.cfm...s&showall=true

Thanks Paul - I was supposed to go this last Thursday to look at trucks but, of course, it was raining most of the day. I did drive past Dahl in Ona and they def. had a few trucks that, from what I saw, were pretty well priced. I will have to make it back to look at them better and make my way over to W. Salem too. Thanks for the Brenengen link - they have a few good deals on low milage 150s.
